The measure is identical to the text of the Senate-passed version of H.R. 5875, a supplemental spending bill that the Senate passed on Thursday, August 6. Senate Passes $600 MILLION Fiscal Year 2010 Border Security Supplemental Appropriations Bill. On August 5, 2010, the Senate passed a $600 MILLION border security supplemental appropriations bill, sending the measure to the House of Representatives for its consideration. Senate action on the spending measure occurred in connection with S. 3721, a measure that was introduced earlier in the day by Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees, and Border Security Chairman Charles S. Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO). The Senate passed the measure by unanimous consent.
As a technical matter, the Senate agreed to a Senate amendment to H.R. 5875, a border security supplemental appropriations bill that the House of Representatives passed on July 28, 2010. The amendment that the Senate passed is comprised of the text of S. 3721.
